Abstract

Background:
Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are widely used for the management of pain and
inflammatory disorders; however, conventional immediate-release formulations often require frequent
dosing and may cause gastrointestinal adverse effects. Sustained-release drug delivery systems offer
improved therapeutic outcomes by maintaining consistent plasma drug concentrations. Heterofenac, a
novel heterocyclic NSAID, was developed to enhance anti-inflammatory efficacy and reduce dosing
frequency.
