Diabetes mellitus is a chronic metabolic disorder characterized by persistent hyperglycemia,
insulin resistance, and oxidative stress, affecting millions worldwide. Traditional medicine,
particularly the Siddha system, offers holistic and natural therapeutic approaches for diabetes
management. Neeradimuthuvallathy Mezhugu (NM), an herbomineral Siddha formulation, has
been traditionally used to manage chronic ailments, including diabetes. This study aims to
scientifically evaluate the physicochemical, phytochemical, and safety parameters of
Neeradimuthuvallathy Mezhugu (NM), with a special focus on baicalin, a bioactive flavonoid
known for its anti-diabetic properties.
