ANALYSETHE PATTERNS OF PULMONARY VENOUS DRAINAGE TO THE LEFT ATRIUM AND THE FREQUENCY OF EACH VARIETY
Keywords:
Computed tomography,, pulmonary veins, pulmonary drainage, variationsAbstract
Background: The anatomy of the pulmonary veins frequently exhibits variations. These variances can be critical, especially
for preoperative planning in cardiac and pulmonary surgery.
Aim: The current study sought to analyse the patterns of pulmonary venous drainage to the left atrium, as well as the frequency
of each variant in pulmonary venous architecture on CT.
Methods: The current study examined 600 thoracic multidetector CT (computed tomography) images retrospectively to
evaluate the structural characteristics of the pulmonary vein and its drainage pattern into the left atrium. For each pattern, a
percentage was calculated, and results were formulated
