Abstract

The present study deals with the medicinal plants used by the people of 3 villages of Sorbhog area of Barpeta district, Assam to document the information 
related to various ethnomedicinal plants used by the villagers to cure various diseases. Intensive field work was carried out to obtain the detailed 
information on the plants and plant materials used by the villagers. In the present study a total of 33 medicinal plants belonging to 31 families were 
reported. These plants were used to cure various diseases like diabetes, jaundice, menstrual problems, stomach problems, infertility etc. The herbal 
medicines were prepared either from various parts of a single plant or multiple plants.
