Background: Low birth weight premature babies are more likely to experience growth failure and neurodevelopmental
damage. ARA (arachidonic acid), DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), and lactoferrin are also included in the innovative HMO
based (HMoF) human milk fortifier, which can aid in giving premature infants a safe nutritional opportunity for growth.
Aim: The purpose of this study was to assess how a novel human milk oligosaccharide-based human milk fortifier including
lactoferrin, docosahexaenoic acid, and arachidonic acid affected the growth of preterm infants weighing between 700 and
1800 grams at birth.
Methods: 28 babies weighing between 1700 and 1800 grams at birth were evaluated for this investigation. Growth hormone,
which is measured by the infants' head circumference, length, and weight during their stay in the NICU and upon discharge,
was the secondary objective evaluated in this study, whereas tolerability with regard to feed tolerance was the primary
outcome.
