ELISA AND AUTOIMMUNE BULLOUS DISORDERS IN INDIAN HEALTHCARE CENTRE

Abstract

Background: Auto-antibodies against adhesion proteins from skin or mucosa are produced by AIBD (autoimmune 
blistering disorders), and these antibodies can be found in bound form from tissues using DIF (direct 
immunofluorescence) or blood circulation using ELISA (enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay) or other techniques.
Aim: The present study was aimed to assess the concordance rate between ELISA and autoimmune bullous disorders
assessed using DIF at an Indian healthcare Centre.
Methods: Using a multivariant ELISA technique that could identify antibodies against collagen VII, envoplakin, BP230, 
BP180, desmoglein 3, and desmoglein1, the current study evaluated data from the Institute's Department of Dermatology 
retrospectively. Additionally, relevant histopathological information was taken from the Institute's records. 
Histopathological characteristics, clinical presentation, and related DIF reports were taken into consideration while 
making the final diagnosis
