Gestational weight gain,Abstract
Background: Gestational weight gain (GWG) is a critical determinant of fetal growth and
neonatal outcomes. Inadequate or excessive maternal weight gain during pregnancy has been
associated with adverse perinatal outcomes, including low birth weight (LBW), which remains a
significant public health concern in developing countries. Low birth weight is a well-established
risk factor for childhood malnutrition, impaired immunity, stunted growth, and increased
morbidity and mortality.
