Background: Extensor mechanism treatment of infected compound patella fractures is challenging due to subcutaneous tissue
scarring. In the past, patellectomy was used to treat these fractures; however, in order to preserve the integrity of the extensor
mechanism, it has recently been recommended to keep the patella.
Aim: The objective is to compare the clinical results of compression external fixation using a JESS fixator prospectively and
patellectomy retrogradely in cases of infected compound fractures of the patella
