Abstract

Background: Low back pain and radiculopathy are the most troublesome symptoms in
patients with degenerative disc disease. Epidural steroid injection (ESI) is commonly
used to reduce pain and improve functional disability by suppressing the inflammatory
response at the affected nerve root caused by disc herniation.
