Background
Alcohol abuse is an emerging public health concern with significant systemic consequences,
particularly affecting hematopoiesis and liver function. Chronic and heavy alcohol
consumption affects red blood cells, platelets, the coagulation profile, and liver enzymes. Early
detection of hematological alterations in alcoholics can help prevent morbidity and mortality
associated with alcoholism. This study aimed to evaluate and compare haematological
parameters between alcoholics and non-alcoholics admitted to a tertiary care hospital.
