Abstract

Metformin is a widely used oral antihyperglycemic agent with a narrow absorption window in
the upper gastrointestinal tract, resulting in reduced bioavailability when it passes quickly
through the stomach. To address this limitation, gastroretentive drug delivery systems (GRDDS) such as floating tablets can be employed to prolong gastric residence time and sustain drug
release.
